The recent update to the Big Finish website released new information about
some of the forthcoming Doctor Who audio plays planned for 2005.
May's play is Catch-1782 by
Alison Lawson and will star
Colin Baker as the Doctor and
Bonnie Langford as Mel. While cast details
and the striking cover by Lee Binding have been
issued, no story synopsis was available.
The update also confirms that the new Seventh Doctor story for June is
Unregenerate! by
David A. McIntee (
Excelis Rising, The Eleventh Tiger) and this will also
feature Bonnie Langford but alongside
her other Doctor, Sylvester McCoy.
Barring further changes to the schedule, this will mean that
Langford will feature in three out of the
first six plays of 2005.

Big Finish have released a batch of new covers for the forthcoming
UNIT series which are all designed by
Red Ink.
The blurb for the first full story, Time
Heals by Iain McLaughlin and
Claire Bartlett is:
The UK branch of UNIT is under threat. The Government wants its own
military investigative organisation, one under its sole control. The public
want answers to the strange things that have been happening recently.
When the division's commanding officer goes missing whilst transporting a
dangerous cargo, Colonel Emily Chaudhry, UNIT's political officer, is
thrown in at the deep end. Things are not helped when a series of
accidents show a bizarre pattern.
The Brigadier, meanwhile, is trying to enjoy his retirement but it seems
it is time again for him to come to the rescue.

Professor Bernice Summerfield. In tonight's story our daring adventuress
and her sidekick, Adrian, find themselves imprisoned in a crumbling palace
in the Prison Season of Spring, replete with an imperious queen and prissy
but rather sweet AI gaoler. How did they arrive? And why doesn't anyone
know who the famous Bernice Summerfield is? Before too long there is
murder as there always is and Benny is accused. Who might possibly be
setting her up for a fall? Could it be The Player a mysterious figure of
rhyme and chaos? And why is everybody so obsessed with his plays? Benny
may find that her only way out of this prison is to play along with the
fiction. But is there someone behind the scenes manipulating her strings?
Could she end up a mere costume' in someone's disturbing game of dress-ups?
After all her adventures, could this be the final episode?
Masquerade Of Death is due to be
released in January 2005.

Nebulous - New R4 Comedy Series |

The BBC has announced details of a new comedy series called Nebulous
which is coming to Radio 4 next
year which has a number of connections to
the audio world of Doctor Who. Written by
Graham Duff (Faith Stealer) and directed
by Nicholas Briggs
(Dalek Empire, Creatures
Of Beauty), Nebulous stars Mark
Gatiss (Invaders From Mars) and
David Warner (Sympathy
For The Devil).
The press release reads:
Nebulous is a brand new comedy on Radio 4 written by and starring Graham Duff, writer of Dr Terrible’s House Of Horrible and Combat Sheep, starting on 6th January 2004 at 11pm.
The year is 2099 and Professor Nebulous (Mark Gatiss) is the director of KENT - the Key Environmental Nonjudgemental Taskforce. In a post apocalyptic England, things will never be the same again. Cattle-clasm has wiped out the majority of our livestock, the year has been restructured to include new months such as Octember and Janril, and there’s even a new season: Hamble, which falls between Spring and Summer and is generally drizzly.
Meanwhile, Professor Nebulous - a brilliant, if eccentric eco-conscious scientist - is determined to get Mother Earth back on the right track. Nebulous runs an eco-trouble shooting organisation called K.E.N.T. (which each week stands for something different). Sadly, the organisation is so woefully underfunded, they have to subsidise their work by running a launderette.
Nevertheless, Nebulous must pit his wits against whatever challenges the Earth’s distorted eco-system throws at him. Be it sentient Dust, killer Cacti or ‘Garrow’ - a new colour which sends people insane. However, Nebulous’s work is continually undermined. Often by the ineptitude of his own team...
Paula Breeze is over enthusiastic and under qualified. She’s utterly infatuated with the oblivious Nebulous and is continually engineering ways to make her feelings known. Rory Lawson (Graham Duff) is a man of action who lacks both brain and brawn. A would-be ladies man, Rory has problems with authority.
Harry Hayes is K.E.N.T.’s tactical equipment specialist. He travels around in a cumbersome wheelchair, cobbled together from kitchen units. And the volume of his electronic voice is way too loud, causing everyone to grit their teeth.
Nebulous himself is a troubled man. He frequently experiences flashbacks to his embarrassing childhood, reared by parents working as clowns, unable to comprehend his scientific genius. Nebulous is further hampered by rival ecological trouble-shooting organisation L.O.U.G.H.B.O.R.O.U.G.H. A flashy, heavily funded outfit headed by his ex-lover, the arrogant Dr. Erica Moody and her dim, muscle bound body guard Craig. As Nebulous points out; “The people of LOUGHBOROUGH have always hated anybody from KENT.”
Directed by Nick Briggs (Dr Who – Dalek Empire) and written by Graham Duff (Dr Terrible’s House of Horrible, Ideal with Johnny Vegas), the cast includes Mark Gatiss as Professor Nebulous, David Warner as Dr Klency, Graham Crouch as Sir Ronald Rolands, Paul Putner as Harry and Rosie Cavaliero as Paula Breeze.
Nebulous, BBC Radio 4, 6th January at 11pm. The adventure starts here.

Big Finish have recently released lots of details about upcoming audio
plays, including casts, crews and cover blurs.
Originally scheduled for November release, the seventh
Doctor Who Unbound story
A Storm Of Angels by
Marc Platt has been pushed back to Decemeber.
Its cover, featuring Geoffrey Bayldon
as the Doctor and Carole Ann Ford as Susan,
the cover is once more designed by Clayton
Hickman.
The cover to the final story, The Next Life,
of the fourth 'season' of Eighth Doctor plays has
also been made available, and is designed by
Steve Johnson.
February 2005's Doctor Who release is The
Game by Darin Henry. Guest starring
in this Fifth Doctor and Nyssa story is one of the original Doctor
Who companion actors from 1963, William
Russell. He is joined by former The Bill actor
Christopher Ellison and BBC football
commentator Jonathan Pearce. The cover
is designed by Lee Binding.
The blurb for this story is:
On the planet Cray, it's game time.
The Gora and the Lineen are set to face off in the grudge match to end
all grudge matches. The players are limbering up, the commentators are
preparing, the fans are daubing themselves in their team's colours. The
arena is set, and the kick-off is approaching.
When the Doctor and Nyssa arrive, however, they find that Naxy is a sport
that anyone can play - whether they want to or not. Cray's entire future
depends on the match's outcome, but the time travellers soon realise that
it is anything but just a game.
Also released are details of Simon A.
Forward's second Doctor Who audio play
Dreamtime which will be the second for the
lineup of the Seventh Doctor, Ace and Hex. Lee
Binding is again the cover designer.
The blurb for this story is:
The Dreamtime is living Time. The Dreaming is living myth.
A city travels the stars, inhabited by stone ghosts. At its heart, an
ancient remembrance of Earth. Mythical creatures stalk the streets and
alien visitors have come in search of trade. But there is nothing to
trade. There is only fear. And death. And the stone ghosts.
For Hex's first trip in the TARDIS, it's about the strangest place he
could have imagined. Weird and very far from wonderful. Adjustment to his
new life could prove tough. But he will have to adjust and do more, just
to stay alive, and Ace will have to be his guide through this lost city
of shadows and predatory dreams. And the Doctor is the first to go
missing.
The Doctor has crossed into the Dreamtime.
Dreamtime will be released in March 2005.
