Gallifrey: A Blind Eye (#1.04)
|

|
"You're fiddling at the outset of a conflict that will have profound
consequences for this planet's history. You think that isn't
dangerous?"
Earth, September 1939. With Europe sliding into war, a young Englishwoman,
her loyalties torn, comes to a terrible decision. But what does the
intergalactic secrets broker Mephistopheles Arkadian want with the
fascist sympathiser Cecilia 'Sissy' Pollard on the last day of her life?
Still searching for the facts about the Gryben debacle, President Romana
makes a deal with the devil. So begins a chain of consequence that can
only end in tragedy for the passengers aboard the Vienna to Calais
Transcontinental Express, the woman called Leela included.
By journey's end, the truth will out but at what cost to Romana and
Leela? To Gallifrey's empire, even?

Romana: "You're a trans-temporal crook Arkadian. Meeting you could never be a pleasure."
Arkadian: "I believe you knew her sister..."
Sissy: "My compartment was invaded by a family of trolls. I thought
their beastly little children might rob me in the night!"
Sissy: "Oh my! It's going to be an eventful journey, that I can tell."
Romana: "What's your game, Arkadian?" Arkadian: "In the normal course
of things, Twister? Risk? Shove, Piggy, Shove?"
Arkadian: "I don't deal in those sort of clichés."
Romana: "What's Captain Cretin doing here?"
Arkadian: "Devil am I? A lowly imp at worst!"
Sissy: "What's wrong with keeping people apart? If they won't ever get on?"
Arkadian: "Events appear to be running ahead of us. Or should I say in tandem."
Erich: "The original. And dare I say it, best."
Ms Joy: "The fairest fascist of them all."
Leela: "I can tell you are lying. It is when your lips move!"
Erich: "Your continuity Madame. A circle of misery that never, ever ends."
