Doctor Who: The Game (#66)
|
|
|
On the planet Cray, it's game time.
The Gora and the Lineen are set to face off in the grudge match to end
all grudge matches. The players are limbering up, the commentators are
preparing, the fans are daubing themselves in their team's colours. The
arena is set, and the kick-off is approaching.
When the Doctor and Nyssa arrive, however, they find that Naxy is a sport
that anyone can play - whether they want to or not. Cray's entire future
depends on the match's outcome, but the time travellers soon realise that
it is anything but just a game.

The Doctor is shocked to hear Sharz Servix admit that his consideration of accepting the peace talks has been eroded by today's game. Thanks to the Doctor, the Gora have new life and now Sharz won't stop the game until ever single Lineen striker is retired. He wants total elimination...
Episode Three:
Nyssa believes she must be in the right place, but there's nothing there but miles and miles of concrete walls. She thinks she hears something, but then screams in terror as something nasty emerges, snarling as it readies to attack...
Episode Four:
The Doctor refuses to fight, saying he will not be part of something he knows is wrong. Hollis tells him to prepare to die...

When the Doctor refuses Morian's offer, the crime boss says that he has been unable to find any information about how quickly a Time Lord's back will break and proposes an experiment to discover the answer. It will begin in five minutes - place your bets...
Episode Six:
Nyssa asks the Doctor if he can delay what he must do until after she's gone. He understands completely and reassures here that they have all the time in the world...
The Doctor: "I have a slight tendency to interfere."
Carlisle: "It takes both sides to end a war."
Sharz Sevix: "Everybody plays naxy, darling. Sooner or later."
The Doctor: "I don't suppose one game will kill me."
Sharz Sevix: "I don't hate them, Doc, I just love to win."
Carlisle: "The game is the war."
The Doctor: "Naxy is just people hacking each other for sport, isn't it?"
Carlisle: "The game is everything to these people. They never want to give
up playing it."
The Doctor: "Ignore Nyssa's pedestrian comedy."
The Doctor: "you're even less imaginative than you look."
Morian: "It's a little hobby of mine to find moral loopholes in people."
