The Last
From The Back Cover...

Trapped on a dying world, the Doctor and Charley come face-to-face with those responsible for the war to end wars, while C'rizz tries to understand what has happened and learns the terrible truth.

Powerful forces are at work on Bortresoye that not even a nuclear holocaust can tame; natural forces that have excited the interest of Excelsior, the self-proclaimed saviour of her people.

With Charley immobilised and C'rizz left to battle against the elements with some of the victims of war, one final, desperate hope of escape presents itself to the travellers.

But who will be the last to leave the planet? Who will have to stay behind? And will the Doctor, Charley and C'rizz live long enough to find out?

Episode Endings

Episode One:
Charley tells the Doctor she sees it in the eyes of the staff here and in his too. The mixture of pity and understanding which says they want to help but can't. She asks the Doctor to be honest with her before calmly stating she's paralysed and will never be able to walk again...

Episode Two:
As Voss opens the doors to the shelter, the Doctor greets C'rizz and asks where the others are. C'rizz doesn't understand, but the Doctor tells him he only counts one. There's no one with C'rizz, he is alone...

Episode Three:
C'rizz returns and begins telling the sleeping Charley about Requiem, but he soon realises she isn't asleep. He can't believe it as he realises that's she's dead...

Episode Four:
As Excelsior is about to make her victory speech, the Interzone portal opens and the Doctor urges Charley and C'rizz to leave quickly. This is one loop he doesn't mind being left out of...

Memorable Quotes

Excelsior: "What are you trying to do, you idiot? Strangle me with my own face?"

The Doctor: "It's bad enough that I'm trapped on this world without your resurrecting images from my past that are calculated to cause pain!"

The Kro'ka: "The power of the Kro'ka might be greater than you realise. It would be a mistake to underestimate me, Doctor."

The Kro'ka: "The end of one journey is the beginning of another..."

The Doctor: "We're a team. We go everywhere together, isn't that right Charley?"

The Doctor: "We seem to have arrived in one of the most inhospitable places imaginable."

Excelsior: "Remember who you are ministers. You are the servants of the State, but, I, Excelsior am the State! And you have the right to know nothing!"

Charley: "Doctor, for all your amazing skills and talents you can't perform miracles. There's a limit to what you or anyone can do."

Requiem: "Little by little we have been brought to our knees."

Requiem: "We built weapons to defend our homeland. Those same weapons have destroyed us!"
