Doctor Who: The Roof Of The World (#59)

|
Tibet. 1917.
It's a time of great exploration, with intrepid teams of adventurers
heading blindly into uncharted territory, determined to beat
inexplicable odds and overcome any challenge they encounter.
But some things are not necessarily that easy to defeat.
An ancient evil, perhaps older than time itself, is stirring deep within
the heart of the Himalayas. It has always known it will return and finish
off what it started so many centuries before.
But the time has to be right.
As the TARDIS materialises, with the Doctor determined to take full
advantage of an invite to a cricket match, the catalyst that the dark
forces need unwittingly arrives...

Episode One:
As Erimem walks into the oncoming storm, she begins to chant that she is
the source of the darkness' light and she is the power to bring their
return. She struggles to say the words before screaming out as the
thunder crackles around her...
Episode Two:
The Doctor, Lord Davey and Peri taunt Erimem with images of hate and how
they regard her as a failure. By embracing her new masters, she can prove
them all wrong and be free again. Erimem tells them if it means ending
this damnation, then her answer is yes. As the whispering grows
powerfully, she screams out in terror...
Episode Three:
Peri tries to get through to Erimem, but the Doctor warns her not to get
too close. When Erimem turns round her eyes have been changed and the
Doctor believes they are too late. As Erimem speaks, her voice is
distorted and she claims to be the key to the end of infinity...
Episode Four:
The Doctor tells Erimem he can't apologise for letting this happen as
there aren't enough words but she reassures him he doesn't have to try.
She tells him that a great man said "What is life if you do not take on
adventure?", which were wise and true words. She tells the Doctor he can
put the lights back on now as she's ready to face the light again...
Erimem: "This 'cricket' still eludes me. What's the point of it?"
Erimem: "I never dreamt there could be so many colours across
one land."
The Doctor: "Everything's literally an uphill struggle here."
General Bruce: "I have an image to maintain on the printed
page. Do you see Conan Doyle giving that detective chap of his poor
entrances? I don't think so!"
General Bruce: "You should learn the art of humility, Matthews.
It'll take you a long way."
Lord Davey: "I did all that I was meant to and then let the
shadows of death envelop me."
Lord Davey: "She is the key to make the darkness all powerful.
She is the source of all darkness' light. She is the power to bring
their return."
General Bruce: "There's always time for cricket."
Erimem: "When I was a child, we were told about the white
pyramid, where the greatest evil was meant to sleep. And if you see
it, it means it will take your soul."
The Doctor: "Since when have you heard of a storm cloud trying
to book a room?"
General Bruce: "For what is life if you do not take on
adventure?"
Lord Davey: "Think of me as a reassuring voice in a time when
you need to hear one."
Peri: "You've killed off the hope that people saw with him!"
General Bruce: "Rule number one, no matter how large the prey,
they always have their Achilles heal." Peri: "Rule number two,
always make sure you don't end up as the prey."
The Doctor: "Watching their reactions is far more entertaining
than trying to explain what dimensional engineering is."
The Doctor: "Promise me you'll never repeat this analogy to
her, General, but in strict hunting terms I'm using Peri as bait."
Lord Davey: "Please offer some reassurance that your powers of
perception and deduction remain intact. I would never forgive myself
where I to think that I had blunted the only weapons you had to hand."
The Doctor: "I've heard this so often before. Plans for
conquest, domination, death on a scale few can comprehend, but the
human spirit is always there and always underestimated!"
