Doctor Who: The Creed Of The Kromon (#53)
|
|
|
The Interzone is a fearsome nether-world protecting a zone ruled by the
Kromon. Theirs is an arid land of dust and dying trees. Across the
landscape are spheres that look like giant anthills. The Doctor believes
that within one of these structures lie the clues that will lead him to
his lost TARDIS.
The spheres are ruled by the insect-like Kromon who covet the TARDIS.
When Charley is captured she is forced to metamorphosise into a
hybrid-insect Queen and so to save her, the Doctor must barter his
knowledge of space-travel technology, all the while knowing that he risks
opening up all the realms of space to a rapacious race whose creed is not
to create, only to plunder.

Episode One:
The Doctor realises they are descending into one
of the biospheres. C'rizz tells him that it must be Alpha Sphere, the
place where he escaped from. It is the home of the Kromon and the
place where they will all die...
Episode Two:
C'rizz tells the Doctor that the Kromon have
turned L'da into a huge slug. She asked him to set her free and that
is precisely what he will do, despite the Doctor's protests. As he
readies the weapon, C'rizz bids his love goodbye before opening
fire...
Episode Three:
The Kromon plan to send some of their food into
space as a demonstration of their new technology. The doors to the
TARDIS are closed and it is proclaimed the Kromon's gateway to the
future. But as the launch countdown reaches its mark, there is a
massive explosion...
Episode Four:
After the Doctor has gone, the Kro'ka declares that
experiment 2.70 has concluded and that experiment 3.56 is beginning...
Charley: "They're eating me alive! How can I ignore them, I'm
their lunch!"
The Kro'ka: "There are people you will meet who will be
interested in your … your TARDIS and its technology. Perhaps you'll
help them?"
C'rizz: "I saw and felt enough. I glimpsed the soul of the
Kromon. It was like a vision of a pit of deepest hell."
Charley: "Listen, we've been shot at, pushed around, tied up,
threatened and well, pushed around a bit more, so yes I am feeling
somewhat fractious!"
Kromon: "Others may have greater intelligence, stronger, more
adaptable forms but none has a greater will to survive. That is
why we overcome all obstacles."
The Creed Of The Kromon is written by
Philip Martin who wrote the two Colin
Baker television stories Vengeance On Varos and Mindwarp.
