Doctor Who: Nekromanteia (#41)
|
|
|
In the depths of space a little known district harbours a terrible secret.
Long known as a place of death, it claims thousands more lives as a great
corporate space-fleet goes to war. As the fleet screams out in fear and
pain, an irresistible voice calls out to three travellers and a macabre
mind sets a deadly trap.
The Doctor, Peri and Erimem face the terrors of Talderun and the wrath of
a corporate empire as they struggle to understand the hideous secret of
the domain of the dead a district known in legend as Nekromanteia.

Episode One:
As Harlon and Cochrane break into the ship, he mistakes Erimem, standing
over the body of the fallen soldier, for one of the 'harpies' and
shoots her in disgust...
Episode Two:
Jal Dor Kal orders death to the Anti-God, and despite the Doctor's
protests he is pushed to his knees. After decapitating him, she holds up
the Doctor's severed head and invites her sisters to feed on his dead
body...
Episode Three:
Shara realises that the situation means the end of all order, but the
Doctor knows the reality is even worse. At this rate, there won't even
be a beginning and he's powerless to stop it...
Episode Four:
As the TARDIS dematerialises, the Doctor, much to his consternation, is
told by his young companions that the next time they go to Earth, must
find a new cat for Erimem...
Jal Dor Kal: 'Bring the corpses of the unbelievers. Shara will
taste their blood.'
Erimem: 'This market is a fascinating place. It is in many ways
like Thebes, but for the rodent people, of course.'
Cochrane: 'So that whole battle was all about power?'
Harlon: 'What did you think it was? A Holy war?' Cochrane:
'I just hoped for something a little more worthwhile.'
The Doctor: 'They finally took it on as an Olympic sport, you know.
Not without some considerable cajoling from me, of course.'
Harlon: 'In my book, women can look a bit rough after a bit of a
kip, but that is abusing the privilege.'
Peri: 'I was born with trouble tattooed on my ass.'
Jal Dor Kal: 'Do not think that life gives you a right to abuse
the dead.'
This story is the Doctor Who debut script of
