Doctor Who: The Sandman (#37)
|
|
|
The Clutch is a fleet in constant motion, ships jostling for position, in
an endless migration between the stars. For the Galyari, forbidden by an
ancient curse from settling on a world ever again, the Clutch is home.
But the curse travels with them...
The Sandman, a figure of myth and folk-lore, preys on the young and old
alike. He lurks in the shadows and it is death to look upon him.
All too soon after the TARDIS arrives, it is evident that the Doctor and
the Galyari share a dark history, and Evelyn is shocked to discover that,
on the Clutch, it is her friend who is the monster.
The Sandman, according to the tales, also goes by the name of the Doctor...

|
Episode One:
The Doctor tells Evelyn that there is good reason for the Galyari's
beliefs about him. He is every bit the monster they believe him to be...
Episode Two:
Nrosha is adamant that there will be no negotiation, and orders the
Doctor killed now...
Episode Three:
Evelyn realises that the figure knows the Doctor somehow, just before Nintaru screams in terror...
Episode Four:
Evelyn ponders whether the Sandman will have the same impact on the
Galyari in the future, but the Doctor hopes he'd still be good for a spot
of bedtime reading material, for the next few centuries at the very
least...
The Sandman is the first audio script of
Simon A. Forward, who wrote the Fourth
Doctor and Leela PDA novel Drift.
The cast includes Anneke Wills, who played
Polly, the companion of the First and Second Doctors during the 1960's.
Also present is Ian Hogg who played Josiah
Samuel Smith in the final story made of the original series Ghost
Light.
