Doctor Who: The Rapture (#36)
|
|
|
Ibiza, 1997, and thousands of young people are acting like mindless
zombies.
Which is to be expected. Ibiza, the island of dance music, sex, drugs and
alcohol, is the ultimate hedonistic paradise.
God has sent help from on high to save the sinners of Ibiza. He has sent
His angels to save their souls.
Which would be simple enough if these souls didn't include an alien
time-traveller working in a bar, a woman who disappeared in 1987, a
young man carrying a photograph of a girl he's never met and an Irish
girl who doesn't even know who she is anymore.

She is urged by Tony and Gabriel to kill Dorothy otherwise Liam will
leave her. She chants 'the rapture' over and over as Tony announces

Episode Four:
After the Doctor and Ace have disappeared into the TARDIS, Liam is amazed
as it vanishes before his eyes...
Ace: "In the back of my mind I was thinking how normal her death
would be. You know, we turn up and sort out the bad guys, but a few
people have to die first. I'm not a superhero Doctor, I need some time
off. Some time to relax."
Gustavo : "You must not forget your beliefs, Senorita McShane."
Ace: "No, but I can't let them control me."
The Doctor: "In many, many years of experience, people claiming to
be angels tend to be the opposite."
Jude: "Spread the truth and love of the Lord and play those kicking
tunes."
The Doctor: "She's like me." Gustavo: "How?" The
Doctor: "She attracts trouble." Gustavo: "Perhaps it is the
trouble that attracts you."
Bouncer: "Sorry mate, but I think you're a bit past it for this
sort of thing?" The Doctor: "Past it?" Bouncer: "Er, yeah!
Wouldn't line dancing suit you better?"
Liam: "Your whole life has been a lie."
Tony Blackburn: "Funny how you never know how the night will turn
out."
The Doctor: "This really is one of the better ventilation shafts
I've crawled through."
The Rapture is Joseph Lidster's
first script for the Doctor Who series, and it is the first
Doctor Who title to be directed by Big Finish producer
Jason Haigh-Ellery.
This story was originally entitled The Priory.
David John previously appeared in Doctor
Who as Derek in Survival and DJ
Tony Blackburn is the first person to play themselves in a Big Finish
Doctor Who audio.
