Doctor Who: Bloodtide (#22)
|
|
|
The prehistoric Earth is dying. Thunderclouds roll across the skies,
cloaking the land in darkness. The seas crash and boil as the rain turns
to acid. The remnants of the Silurian race place themselves in suspended
animation, deep below the surface. One day they will awaken and reclaim
their world...
The TARDIS has landed on the Galapagos Islands, a desolate outcrop of
rocks shrouded in mist and fear.
In the settlement of Baquerizo Moreno, there are rumours that prisoners
have been mysteriously disappearing from the gaolhouse. A fisherman has
been driven insane by something he saw in the caves. And the Doctor and
Evelyn are not the only new arrivals; there is also a young natural
philosopher by the name of Charles Darwin...

Episode One:
Greta believes that the 'devils' have arrived ready to kill them, but the
Doctor immediately sees that they are in fact the Silurians, who
have come for them....
Episode Two:
As the Doctor and Greta are brought onto Captain Fitzroy's boat, one of
his crew warns him that there's something in the water. The crew look on
in horror as a terrible creature rises out of the water...
Episode Three:
As the Doctor and Darwin are discussing theories of evolution, Tulok
barges in and tells them that they are the product of his experiments. He
is their God...
Episode Four:
With the world safe, Evelyn and the Doctor head back to the TARDIS, with
more adventures awaiting them elsewhere...
The Doctor: 'I thought you might relish the opportunity to see
genius at work, well, to see another genius at work. You can compare our
methods!.'
The Doctor: 'I'm finding the atmosphere here not quite to my
tastes.'
Sh'vak: 'This is our home, Doctor! The ape creatures are an
infestation.'
The Doctor: 'Nature abhors a vacuum.'
The Doctor: 'They take weaknesses such as vanity, greed and petty
cruelty and they twist them to control your mind. And since you display
those qualities in such abundance, I'm sure they didn't find it
too difficult!'
Bloodtide sees the return of the Silurians, and marks the Big
Finish debut of writer Jonathan Morris
who wrote the popular Fourth Doctor novel Festival Of Death.
