Setting
This story takes place after the TV Movie. It is speculated that these stories could take place during a number of gaps mentioned in the BBC Eighth Doctor novels, a theory which Minuet In Hell gives credence to by mentioning the Eighth Doctor's first novel companion Sam. Events in the later story Zagreus cast doubts on the veracity of this idea, by alluding to the events of the novels as taking place in an alternative universe.

Storm Warning
From The Back Cover...

October, 1930. His Majesty's Airship, the R101, sets off on her maiden voyage to the fathest-flung reaches of the British Empire, carrying the brightest lights of the Imperial fleet. Carrying the hopes and dreams of a breathless nation.

Not to mention a ruthless spy with a top-secret mission, a mysterious passenger who appears nowhere on the crew list, a would-be adventuress destined for the Singapore Hilton.... and a Time Lord from the planet Gallifrey.

There's a storm coming. There's something unspeakable, something with wings, crawling across the stern. Thousands of feet high in the blackening sky, the crew of the R101 brace themselves. When the storm breaks, their lives won't be all that's at stake...

The future of the galaxy will be hanging by a thread.

Memorable Quotes

The Doctor: 'What a terrible way to never die.'

Lord Tamworth: 'And exactly to what end have you compromised the single most important flight yet attempted by an Englishman?' Charley: 'For the thrill of it sir, why else?'

The Doctor: 'You're not supposed to be here, are you Charley?'

Charley: 'I'm an explorer, an Edwardian Adventuress!'

Charley: 'Doctor, does this mean there are other worlds, past the sun?' The Doctor: 'A million planets circling a millions suns, Charley. Where the starlight makes colours which human eyes have never seen.'

The Doctor: 'You feel that pounding in your heart? That tightness in the pit of your stomach? The blood rushing to your head? Do You know what that is? That's adventure! The thrill and the fear and the joy of stepping into the unknown. That's why we're all here, that's why we're alive!'

Comments

Storm Warning is the first Big Finish Eighth Doctor audio, and marks Paul McGann's return to the role he played in the 1996 TV Movie. Also present in the cast is Gareth Thomas, who is probably most famous for playing freedom fighter Roj Blake in Blake's 7 and would later go on to star in Big Finish's Dalek Empire series.
