Doctor Who: The Mutant Phase (#15)
|
|
|
In the 22nd century, the Daleks have occupied planet Earth. By the 43rd
century, only a handful of humans survive. Still further into the distant
future, a Thal scientist must choose whether to betray his heritage, or
see the universe destroyed.
When the Doctor and Nyssa find themselves trapped in this deadly chain of
events, they must decide who their real enemies are. What is certain,
however, is that no matter where the Doctor turns... his arch enemies,
the Daleks, will be waiting for him.
What could possibly be worse than that? The Mutant Phase...

Episode One:
One Dalek suddenly begins to act very strangely, and the other Daleks
realise that it is suffering from the 'Mutant Phase.' Ptolem tries to stop
the extermination to study it in this state, but the Daleks refuse as all
infected Daleks must be exterminated. As they prepare to fire, he realises
for the first time that the Daleks are really afraid of something...
Episode Two:
The Daleks refuse the Doctor's terms and exterminate Delores. If the
Doctor doesn't give in to them, they will exterminate Nyssa too. The
Doctor steps out from the TARDIS and declares 'I surrender'...
Episode Three:
With the TARDIS trapped inside the Time Corridor, Ganatus muses to himself
that everything is going to plan and that the Doctor will, and must, obey.
But as he speaks his voice starts to become that of the Dalek Emperor...
Episode Four:
With the threat of the Mutant Phase resolved, the Doctor and Nyssa head
back to the TARDIS. The Doctor explains the paradox situation, but Nyssa
tells him that it doesn't make sense. He responds by telling her that
paradoxes very rarely do, that's why they're paradoxes...
The Doctor: 'No sense, no feeling, no humanity'
The Doctor: 'Show a little optimism, please Nyssa.'
Karl Hendryx: 'Congratulations Doctor, you may qualify as the Universe's greatest optimist!'
The Doctor: 'What if I prefer to die, rather than compromise history?'
The Doctor: 'That's the trouble with inferior technology built by megalomaniac machines!'
The Doctor: 'You have a problem with trust don't you? Typical Dalek neuroses.'
The Mutant Phase completes the initial wave of the three Dalek
stories for the Fifth, Sixth and Seventh Doctors. The original unreleased
cover can be viewed
