Doctor Who: The Shadow Of The Scourge (#13)
|
|
|
The Pinehill Crest Hotel in Kent is host to three very different events:
a cross-stitch convention, an experiment in time travel and... the
summoning of the Scourge.
The Doctor, Bernice and Ace find themselves dealing with a dead body that
has come back to life, a mystical symbol that possesses its host, and a
threat from another universe that is ready for every trick the Doctor's
got up his sleeve.
This time, has the Doctor gone too far?
|
|
Episode One:
The animated corpse reveals itself to be the Scourge leader, whom the
Doctor had been expecting. The Doctor greets the leader of the great
Unity of the Scourge to this Universe in the name of Gallifrey so they
can feast. He offers on behalf of the Time Lords, the unconditional
surrender of the planet Earth...
Episode Two:
Before the eyes of Bernice and Ace, the Doctor screams out in agony as
the mark of the Scourge glows brighter and he begins his transformation
into one of the soldiers of the Scourge...
Episode Three:
Despite the efforts of Bernice to convince him otherwise, the Doctor says
that he's given up as he steps into the pit of darkness of his mind he
screams out as he falls 'Don't forget me!'...
Episode Four:
Despite what has happened, everything seems to have worked out in the end
for everyone, and even the Doctor's back to his old self, but after all
he is only human...
Bernice: 'Is this the room with all the extraterrestrial channelling going on, or are you
holding hands because you're really friendly?'
The Doctor: 'I have a feeling we won't be leaving too quickly.'
Bernice: 'Oh, yes a feeling. A feeling based on the fact that you've got a very good idea why we're
here and, as usual, don't feel obliged to tell us.'
Bernice: 'That's three whats. Soon you'll have enough for a battery.'
The Doctor: 'Trust me, I'm the Doctor.'
Bernice: 'She's as scared as we are. Only she deals with it a bit differently, she bashes it.'
Michael Pembroke: 'No stars, no galaxies, just darkness into infinity.'
Bernice: 'I think happiness with those we love means everything.'
The Doctor: 'I always beat the monsters.'
The Shadow Of The Scourge features Bernice Summerfield in a
Doctor Who audio for the first time, and it's fitting that this
story, which is set during the New Adventures, should be written by
one of defining writers of that era - Paul
Cornell.
