Doctor Who: The Apocalypse Element (#11)
|
|
|
When the planet Archetryx is threatened by a Dalek assault squad, the
Doctor and Evelyn become embroiled in an ever-deepening mystery. What has
become of President Romana, missing for twenty years? What lurks in the
vast gravity wells of Archetryx? What is the secret of the ancient element
the Daleks are synthesising - and how does Gallifrey feature in their
plans?
The Doctor finds that if his oldest enemies cannot conquer the universe
they will watch it go up in flames...

Episode One:
As Trinkett and the Doctor explore, she hears something and suddenly it's
on her back. To the Doctor's horror he realises that they are Dalek
mutants operating outside of their travel machines so they can attack
more effectively, and soon they are submerged by an attacking horde of
them...
Episode Two:
The Monan ship is let onto Gallifrey, but as the President prepares to
greet them, he realised that the Time Lords have been tricked, and the
Daleks are beginning their invasion of Gallifrey...
Episode Three:
The Daleks have forced the Time Lords into a position where a galaxy
will be completely destroyed unless they act, and to act they will have
to lower the transduction barriers and allow the Dalek invasion force to
land on Gallifrey. If they don't the Universe will end in fire. Either
way it's the end of everything...
Episode Four:
Romana promises the Doctor that she'll help the world to rebuild and
won't allow a Dalek Empire based on Gallifrey's doorstep. Evelyn proposes
a toast to survivors to which the Doctor responds that life does win,
whatever the Daleks may claim...
Romana: 'You're wearing the wrong body.' The Doctor: 'No,
I'm wearing the right body, just not necessarily in the right order.'
Romana:'I have no choice but to let the Daleks dehumanise me, but
I will not tolerate the same treatment from you!'
The Doctor: 'Life wins!'
The Apocalypse Element was the second of the initial three Dalek
Empire Doctor Who stories, and also featured the return of
Lalla Ward as Romana. Following the
continuity established by the Virgin New Adventures, Romana has
returned from E-Space and become President of Gallifrey.
