Doctor Who: Red Dawn (#08)
|
|
|
Ares One: NASA's first manned mission to the dead planet Mars. But is
Mars as dead as it seems?
While the NASA team investigate an "anomaly" on the planet's surface, the
Doctor and Peri find themselves inside a strange alien building. What is
its purpose? And what is frozen inside the blocks of ice that guard the
doorways? If the Doctor has a sense of deja-vu, it's because he's about to
meet some old adversaries, as well as some new ones...
|
|
Episode One:
The Doctor and Forbes are alarmed to see the blocks of ice are melting,
and this prompts the Doctor to realise just where they are as they split
to reveal awakening Ice Warriors...
Episode Two:
Zzaal orders the tombs weapons be brought to bear on the Argosy. The
Doctor pleads with him to change his mind, but Zzaal doesn't respond
and the Doctor and Forbes can only watch helplessly as the Ice Warriors'
missiles are fired...
Episode Three:
Tired of the Doctor and his insults, Paul holds the Ice Warriors' own
weapon up against the Doctor's head and prepares to fire...
Episode Four:
With the situation stabilised, the Doctor and Peri quietly head back to
the TARDIS, in readiness for further adventures...
Peri: 'Smelly, cold and green. Might as well be Nebraska.'
Commander Lee Forbes: 'This is the biggest step so far on the
ladder of man's achievement.'
The Doctor: 'I'm a great believer in free will, I like to take
the scenic route.'
Lord Zzaal: 'There is always the possibility of
misunderstanding.'
Lord Zzaal: 'There is dignity in forgiveness, just as it is
noble to exact revenge.'
Lord Zzaal: 'Take care you do not exhaust what remains of
my patience.'
This is the first audio story to team up the Fifth Doctor and Peri,
and also sees the return of the Ice Warriors.
Georgia Moffat, who plays Tanya Webster, is actually
Peter Davison's daughter.
Robert Jezek and
Maureen Oakeley would return together in
the final Eighth Doctor story of 2001,
Minuet In Hell.
