Doctor Who: Whispers Of Terror (#03)
|
|
|
The Doctor and Peri find themselves in the Museum of Aural Antiquities,
where every sound is stored for posterity - from the speeches of Visteen
Krane to security service wire taps and interrogation tapes. But they
also find an intruder, mysteriously changed recordings and a dead body.
Before long the Doctor realises that there is more going on than a
simple break-in or murder. How can he defeat a creature that is made of
pure sound?

|
Episode One:
Dent attempts to escape from the voices that are
tormenting her as she flees, with the same voice repeating over and
over 'Tell me who I am!'...
Episode Two:
The Doctor confronts the sound wave, telling it
that it was or is, none other than Visteen Krane himself, which the
voice promptly repeats repeatedly...
Episode Three:
As the Doctor races to the broadcast suite to
prevent the transmission, but the whispering of the voice surrounds
him and as it builds in volume, the Doctor screams out in agony...
Episode Four:
Pernell finds a voice message for herself in her
car, but a sudden burst of noise forces her car off the road where
it explodes and only the whispering survives the destruction...
The Doctor: 'Shout! I don’t shout! People who resort to
shouting to get what they want are merely demonstrating the inherent
porosity of their argument!'
The Doctor: 'Where's your sense of adventure Peri? Where's
your curiosity and longing for knowledge?' Peri:'It's longing
to leave...'
The Doctor: 'Something grand and theatrical from the old
school of acting no doubt. Loud, bombastic, not my sort of thing,
really...'
The Doctor: 'It's what you say that's important, not how
loudly you say it.'
Whispers Of Terror was prolific Doctor Who novelist
Justin Richards' first script for
Big Finish. According to information in the Doctor Who
Magazine, its provisional titles included The Sound Of Fear and
Sound Judgement and finally Whispers Of Terror.
Lisa Bowerman, who plays Beth Pernell
here, previously appeared as Karra in Doctor Who in the final story
of season 26 Survival and plays New Adventures companion
Bernice Summerfield in both The Shadow Of
The Scourge and Big Finish's seperate
Bernice Summerfield range.
Peter Miles also appeared in the series
several times, but most notably as Nyder in the classic Fourth
Doctor story Genesis Of The Daleks.
