|
|
The TARDIS takes the Doctor and Turlough to the London of 1702 where a
mysterious highwayman roams the streets, a local occultist has made
contact with the dead and gentlemen of fashion are disappearing, only

The time-travellers become enmeshed in the hideous plans of Sir
Nikolas Valentine, a gambler at the mysterious Diabola Club who always
seems to have a winning hand...

As Hannah watches, the unnatural screams possess the Doctor and he
begins to scream in pain as the sound builds all around them...

Valentine is the intended target. If he is, he shall cast off his

With London now safe, the Doctor and Turlough prepare to depart.
Flowers and Jeake invite Holywell to join the Diablo Club, but the Doctor
advises him to stick to playing Snap in the future...
Sir Nikolas Valentine: 'What game do I play? A long game, my
friend. A very long game!'
The Doctor: 'Every man should have a hobby! Helps to while
away eternity.'
Turlough: 'Oh no, I suppose I’ll have to do something about
this. This really isn't me at all.'
The Doctor: 'Something’s not quite right here, Samuel, and
this particular rationalist is beginning to feel a little
irrational.'
Major Billy Lovemore: 'Today I'm an angel of
retribution.'
Turlough: 'Have you heard of this Diablo club?'
Dr. Samuel Holywell: 'Oh Indeed. It has quite a reputation.
Many a young fellow has been wrecked on it’s scandalous shore -
drinking, wenching, gambling! I’ve been trying to become a member
for years...'

Ryall in a star turn as Sir Nikolas Valentine.
